Open up most LED fixtures on the market and you'll find the same thing: a commodity circuit board, sourced overseas, hidden inside the housing and treated as an afterthought. At EnviroLux, the circuit board isn't a component we buy. It's the technology we build — and it's why our fixtures outperform and outlast the rest of the industry.
EnviroLux is one of the only companies in the United States that designs and manufactures its own LED circuit boards, on our own state-of-the-art SMT lines, in Canton, Texas. Every performance claim we make — the efficiency, the lifespan, the reliability — starts here.
LEDs rarely burn out the way old lamps did. They die slowly — losing output, shifting color, and failing prematurely — and the cause is almost always heat. Thermal management is widely recognized as the single most important factor in LED performance over a fixture's lifetime. It's also the first thing sacrificed when a fixture is built to a price.
EnviroLux boards are engineered for thermal performance from the substrate up: aluminum metal-core construction with 2 oz copper inlay that pulls heat away from the LED packages and into the fixture's thermal system. Compare that to the low-cost fiberglass-backed boards common in commodity fixtures, which trap heat at the diode — exactly where it does the most damage.
Here's an engineering philosophy you won't find in a commodity fixture: EnviroLux designs boards with 3 to 4 times the diode count of typical industry practice — then under-drives those diodes at approximately 80 milliamps.
Most manufacturers do the opposite. They calculate the minimum number of diodes a fixture needs and push them hard, because fewer diodes means a cheaper board. The fixture looks fine on the spec sheet — and runs hot in the real world, where warehouse ceilings, exterior canopies, and Texas summers don't match laboratory room temperature.
By spreading the load across more diodes, each one runs cooler, operates closer to its rated efficiency, and lasts dramatically longer. The result shows up in the numbers: EnviroLux fixtures exceeding 200 lumens per watt, with thermal headroom for the hottest, hardest-to-reach installations — while typical industry fixtures run in the 135–150 lm/W range.
A premium LED board paired with a bargain driver is a premium board waiting to fail. EnviroLux pairs every board with programmable LED drivers exceeding 90 percent efficiency — our Pro Series drivers run at 93 percent — with integrated 6 kV surge protection and optional 10 kV auxiliary protection for exterior and electrically harsh environments.
Because we engineer the board and select the driver as one system, the drive current, thermal design, dimming behavior, and controls compatibility are matched by design — not assembled by chance.
Owning the SMT line changes what's possible:
Custom board geometry. Retrofitting an existing housing? Unusual mounting constraints? We design boards to fit your application — not force your application to fit a catalog.
24–48 hour prototyping. Concept to functional prototype in days, not the months an overseas supply chain requires.
OEM circuit board manufacturing. EnviroLux produces Zhaga-compliant and custom LED circuit boards for other manufacturers and demanding industries — including defense, aerospace, and medical — built to the same standard as our own fixtures.
Full traceability. Every board is BAA and BABA compliant, with a documented domestic supply chain — a requirement we meet by default, because the boards never leave Texas until they ship to you.
This board technology isn't theoretical. When NASA commissioned EnviroLux in 2020 to engineer the LED lighting system for the Artemis launch pad at Kennedy Space Center, we designed and manufactured more than 300 custom Made-in-USA luminaires for launch pad and rocket illumination — every one built on boards from our Texas facility. When NASA needed LED lighting proven for deep-space simulation in the Orion altitude test chamber, our boards passed continuous operation and independent laboratory review.
The board inside your warehouse high bay is engineered by the same team, on the same lines, to the same standard.
Anyone can quote a lumens-per-watt number. EnviroLux engineers it — through metal-core thermal design, generous diode loading at low drive current, high-efficiency matched drivers, and manufacturing we control from first trace to final test.
That's the EnviroLux Advanced Circuit Board difference. Made in Texas. Built into every fixture we ship.
